Morgan County jury convicts for Trafficking

A Morgan County jury returned a verdict convicting Quantini Thomas for Trafficking Marijuana and reckless driving, the result of officers stopping him with over two hundred (200) pounds of marijuana in his semi truck. Judge Amanda S. Petty heard evidence of Mr. Thomas's numerous prior felony convictions and sentenced him to a total sentence of thirty (30) years, with fifteen (15) years in prison. ADA Jeff Burks noted the professionalism of the Madison Police Department thanked them for a job well done.

Jones County- Pinwheels for Child Abuse

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Today members of our Jones County Office had the opportunity to attend the Pinwheels for Child Abuse program hosted by the Jones County Department of Family and Children Services. Speakers from Jones County Family Connection, First Baptist Church of Gray, Jones County Board of Education, Jones County Department of Family and Children Services, Family Counseling Center, Growing Gray Hounds, and foster parents spoke about coming together as a community to prevent child abuse. The Jones County High School Chorus also performed several songs for the program.
