

Better Together outreach program
On Saturday, October 23th, Jackie J. Watts with the OJC Victims' Assistance Program spoke at the Better Together community outreach program hosted by Tracy Harper w/TH Community Service. The purpose of the program was to raise awareness, share strategies to end domestic violence, and offer resources to the community. Candles were lit and balloons were released in honor of those who lost their lives to domestic violence.


Shatter the Silence 5K
On Monday, October 25th, the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office participated in an office "5K Day" walking in support of the OJC Domestic Violence Task Force's Shatter the Silence 5K. Led by the District Attorney, T. Wright Barksdale, III, several staff members from around the circuit stepped up to pound the pavement against domestic violence. Thanks to all who have supported.


Burke convicted in Morgan County
Dontarious Burke was convicted on October 20, 2021 of Murder and Armed Robbery in Morgan County Superior Court. Burke was convicted by a jury of the November 27, 2019 murder of Kentrell L. Jones in the Morgan Circle area of Madison. Burke received a life sentence for the murder and 20 years for the Armed Robbery. The case was investigated by the GBI and the Madison Police Department. We appreciate both agencies and all of their hard work.


Greene County conviction on Cruz
Elvin Cruz was found guilty of Aggravated Child Molestation, Aggravated Sodomy, and Incest by a Greene County jury Friday afternoon. He was convicted after a three-day trial of molesting a young member of his family in January of 2020. Superior Court Judge Alison T. Burleson sentenced Cruz to life in prison plus 29 years, with one additional year on probation.
